Just as Ron’s designs have evolved over the decades so has the manufacturing technology and materials used. The Glass Tiger is a fully moulded vynal ester resin composite construction using combinations of multiple stitched fabrics with carbon fibre reinforcement and core cell linear polyurethane foam coring.

These materials are then laid up dry and vacuum resin infused. The vacuum infusion process eliminates the inconsistencies of hand lay-up that's dependent on the laminator's skill and it completely does away with air entrapment and void problems that can compromise durability. The process creates the highest resin-to-glass ratio in marine construction of a 1/3 resin to 2/3 glass fibre ratio rather than the 2/3 resin to 1/3 glass fibre used in other builder's processes. Higher glass fibre content results in greater strength to weight ratio and a lighter,  yet stronger composite laminate.

While this process is more expensive than the traditional chop spray or west system timber and glass composites, it produces a far stronger, lighter and more durable vessel.

Mark’s manufacturing and yachting credentials together with Ron Given’s internationally acclaimed design skills have enabled the Given 11 Power Cat to be redesigned to utilize leading edge technology for its infusion moulded construction methodology.
